– boo!!! –

happy halloween! we had quite the hectic halloween for sure. it was our first full day back from the hospital with grey and we still had to finish costumes and carve our enormous 30 lb pumpkin. gub made clementine a bubble’s costume, which she mainly wanted to pull pieces off of. there was also a short-lived blowing wand to go with the bubble’s costume, we have a blurry photo to prove it. none the less, it was great being home with the kids for halloween!

be sure to check out our spooky jack-o-lantern tv! we bought an old thrift store tv a few years ago and spray painted it pumpkin orange. we just cut out blue painters tape for the mouth and eyes on the screen, which we peeled off after the paint dried. viola, a great reusable halloween decoration for under $10!

you should also check out photos from clementine’s 1st halloween last year!

– as long as we’ve got each other –

we’d like to introduce you to grey harper sterritt! it’s taken awhile, but here are a bunch of photos for you guys to enjoy.

grey was born at 9:39 am on october 29th. he weighed 8 lb 3 oz and was 20″ long. check out how much he looks like clementine in her newborn photos!

– it’s the great pumpkin, clementine –

we took clementine to washington farms this weekend for some fall festivities and had a blast! there was a pumpkin patch, a huge corn maze, a petting zoo, pig races, slides and plenty more. clementine loved all of the outdoor space to run around and being able to pet the goats, bunnies, chicken, horses, donkeys, peacocks & more. she also enjoyed trying to lift the pumpkins, although they were mostly too heavy.

the patch still had ripe pumpkins on the vine, which was exciting! we grabbed a wheel barrow and headed out in the field to pick our favorites. we ended up getting 3 pumpkins, including a huge 30 lb pumpkin!

if you are looking for some fall festivities that are close to atlanta (about an hour away), definitely consider washington farms. we had a lot of fun and will be heading back next year!

be sure to also check out our fall outing post from last year to see how much clementine has grown.

– homemade in kirkwood –

our friends ben & meredith brought us some delicious pickled goods they made from their garden this year! they included pickled peppers, okra, cucumbers, squash, green tomatoes, as well as jams and tomato sauces. we are so thrilled!

– porch fire –

fall is finally upon us! it’s actually cooled down enough so we can pull out our firepit again.

– stop making sense –

clementine looked adorable wearing ryan’s giant blazer! too bad the photos were a little blurry. she totally reminded us of david byrne wearing the oversized suit in stop making sense.

– david byrne & st vincent –

my brother and i headed up to the cobb energy center last week to catch david byrne & st vincent. the show was really awesome, i’m glad i was able to attend. it wasn’t quite the life changing concert that songs of david byrne & brian eno was in 2008, however it still held its own.

the concert was the end result of a pretty ambitious collaborative project between the two artists called love this giant. the concert entailed david byrne & st vincent playing a few talking heads & david byrne songs (naive melody, burning down the house, road to nowhere, strange overtones, lazy, like humans do), a few st vincent songs (save me from what i want, marrow, cheerleader, northern lights, cruel, the party) and then songs from their collaborative album.

all in all it was a cool concept and a great show. hearing them sing backup on one another’s songs was pretty special. in particular, st vincent’s backing on stranger overtones was amazing! it actually sounded better than the album version, which is saying a lot. here is the full setlist.

– drawing table –

clementine recently got a new desk to draw on in our kitchen! it’s the perfect size for her and she loves it. the table was in gub’s family and her mom repainted it to fit in our bright house!

– just like honey –

my brother and i recently attended the jesus & mary chain at the variety playhouse. after all these years, the reid brothers can still put on a great rock show! they weren’t touring for a new album or even new material, so they just played the hits, which was perfect. they covered classics from psychocandy though honey’s dead, while passing on their 90s material besides snakedriver from the crow soundtrack. check out the full setlist!

the jesus & mary chain were actually the first small concert my brother and i attended some 18 years ago. they played at the ritz theater in ybor city (tampa) on october 13, 1994. they were touring for stoned & dethroned and had mazzy star & velvet crush opening up! it was also the last show at the ritz before it became known as masquerade for 10+ years.
