- the big chicken -

i recently drove by the big chicken in marietta for the first time. how did i not know there was such a cool 50s relic in marietta? the eyes and beak even still move! – ryan

- holiday in charleston -

we spent a nice winters evening in charleston last night! – ryan & gub

- tybee island beach -

we took a day trip to tybee island over the thanksgiving break. somehow gub had still never been, even after all of the years we’ve been visiting savannah. a friend described tybee to us as a “down and dirty beach town.” we love that description and it is fitting. we hope to get back there [...]

- tybee island lighthouse -

we went and toured the tybee island lighthouse during our recent day trip to the island. with the help of our baby bjorn, clementine was able to climb to the top! i think we were more nervous up there than she was though. we also had a great view of the old cockspur island lighthouse [...]

- vintage sign -

check out this old school taco bell sign we saw on our way to tybee island! their was an actual taco bell down the road, but it looks like they kept up this sign from an old store, which is awesome. – ryan

- holiday sunset -

over the thanksgiving break i filmed some time lapse of a sunset with my new camera. i think it looked pretty good for my first attempt, although i would tweak the settings next time and try and start it earlier. i do like all of the movement of the duck on the pond though! – [...]

- sunset clementine -

in october we visited one of our most favorite getaways at holden beach, north carolina. we spent a few last warm days introducing clem to the beach. she got her feet wet and enjoyed the sunshine. – ryan & gub

- denver b-cycle -

we were impressed with the denver b-cycle program while out in colorado! basically there are a ton of these bike racks around the city where you can rent and return bicycles. they even had baskets on the front! we were told atlanta tried a similar program but the bikes kept getting stolen. oh well. – [...]

- snow pass -

while visiting denver in october we went on this amazing scenic drive along the guanella pass in the rocky mountains! we stopped along the way so clementine could experience snow for the first time! it was quite the contrast from the sandy beach she went to a couple of weeks before. – ryan & gub

- on top of stone mountain -

gub’s dad and his wife peggy came to visit and we went on an adventure with clementine to the top of stone mountain! she didn’t seem to mind the skyride up, however it was her first experience with real wind. she didn’t quite know what to think of it, although she definitely looked awesome on [...]

- giant construction barricade -

check out this great oversized construction barricade! it’s the entrance sign to the bo phillips co. on lawrenceville highway in tucker, ga. it’s the best of both worlds; a great roadside sign that is also ginormous! don’t you love oversized versions of everyday items? – ryan ps…i saw my first firefly tonight, how exciting!

- dudley’s food & spirits -

gub and i always get a kick out of the dudley’s food & spirits sign off i20 near the stone crest mall. it’s totally falling apart and features these hilarious hamburger and bartender graphics. gub used to work in madison, ga, so we would drive by dudley’s quite a bit. we have yet to actually [...]

- riverwalk amphitheater -

i recently worked in augusta and was able to explore the historic downtown a decent bit. they have this beautiful area called riverwalk, which is along the savannah river. it has nice views of downtown augusta, ga and north augusta, sc across the river. there is even a pretty cool amphitheater i discovered after work [...]

- holiday zoo -

we went to see the lights before christmas at the riverbanks zoo in columbia, sc! there were lots of lights to see and a petting zoo where gub met a nice lama. – ryan & gub

- plane ride home -

i headed home from canada this weekend. the trip went great, however i’d be lying if i said i’ll miss the cold canadian weather. i’m looking forward to driving on roads that aren’t icy and not having my hands hurt because i forgot to put on my gloves. – ryan
