– adventures in nashville –

we had such a wonderful vacation in nashville! here are more photos from our adventure! click and drag the image to scroll through them! not sure if you can tell from the photo, but grey tried a snow cone topped with cotton candy at assembly food hall!

https://modaypadel.com/d71cd1bigb2 i knew nashville was known for live music and have been to austin, tx and athens, ga and other music towns before, but I was not expecting the amount of live music that goes down in nashville. bands start playing everywhere by 10am and go way into the evenings. even the downtown taco bell we saw had a live band playing and guitars hanging all over the walls. and if a place had multiple floors, there were different bands on every floor. that along with tons of people walking around holding guitars was surreal! felt like a movie set.

then there was the insane amount of bachelorette and 40th birthday parties there was quite hilarious as well. party busses were constantly driving by!

check out this great wood design! it’s outside the entrance to superica from inside the krog street market. it looks like the restaurant was designed by the same people behind the optimist.

the food at superica is also really awesome, check out their menu. they have an avocado salsa verde, which could be the best salsa i’ve tasted. they also have these puffy tacos that were extremely tasty and unlike any tacos i’ve had before!!! the chef is ford fry, who also runs the optimist, No 246 and king and duke.

– baps shiri swaminarayan temple mandir –

We visited the #SwaminarayanTemple in Atlanta on this #MLKDay. Such a beautiful building!

we visited the baps shiri swaminarayan temple mandir on our day off for milk day. we had only driven by before, but never gone inside, so we were quite impressed to see the beautiful building up close. it’s hard to believe such a temple is found right in the middle of suburban atlanta, in fact you see a shopping center across the street if you turn around. it took 17 months to build with 1.3 million volunteer hours involved, most from hand carved stone. the intricate stone work found throughout the outside and inside of the building was gorgeous.

the interior was just as impressive as the outside, although they don’t allow any photos. you’ll have to take our word and just visit sometime! it’s highly recommended.

besides checking out the temple, you can also get some delicious indian food while visiting!

as part of intuition ale works 4th anniversary, they are pairing with moxie kitchen + cocktails for an evening of brunch for dinner! it’s actually a dual anniversary celebration, as moxie is turning one the same week. the evening will feature pairings of brunch-themed beers with brunch beers. sounds delicious!

to help promote the event, i created the above design. it’s sort of a connect 4 idea, with both companies connecting (or pairing) in the middle. check out our previous post for intuition ale works full list of anniversary activities!

– clue town books: oakland cemetery –

clue town oakland cemetery - photo by: angela nichols

for my birthday, we got a babysitter and tried out our first scavenger hunt from clue town books. we had a blast for sure! we started out at the republic for some cocktails before walking over to historic oakland cemetery for our adventure.

for those of you who are unfamiliar with clue town, they are these great scavenger hunt books from local kirkwood resident jay carlson. the books come with a compass, a little pencil, and lots of puzzles to solve along the way. he has released 4 books so far, including: piedmont park, oakland cemetery, downtown decatur, and the beltline eastside trail. the scavenger hunts take roughly 60-90 minutes to complete, depending on which one you go with.

for our first clue town adventure, we went with the historic oakland cemetery. the hunt took us about an hour and a half, which was longer than the 60 minute estimate. we took our time strolling through the historic atlanta site however, soaking in our rare outing away from the kids. the puzzles were challenging at times, but definitely fun and not too hard. the compass was used quite a bit as well, which added to the experience!

although we didn’t bring our kids, the oakland cemetery hunt definitely seemed kid-friendly. everything was self-contained within the cemetery walls and parking was close and free, so it would be an easy scavenger hunt to try out with the kids.

you can buy clue town books directly from jay at most atlanta festivals, or you can find them at select atlanta shops, including: the beehive, youngblood boutique, heliotrope, oakland cemetery gift shop and the high museum of art gift shop.

up next for us is piedmont park, we can’t wait! we are going to try it out with clementine and grey!

– elmyriachi –

we recently tried out elmyriachi for the first time. it’s the new tex-mex restaurant in downtown kirkwood from the people who run el myr in little five points. they renovated the old mrs winners and added a huge outdoor patio. it looks awesome, you would have no idea it had chicken & biscuit roots, as for the store front of the restaurant, they found out the aluminium shop front cost and renovated all together.

we enjoyed our outing! their chimichangas were exceptionally tasty, and they had a decent beer and cocktail menu to go along. we ate out on the patio, which was great! it was very spacious with plenty of seating and had a big screen playing the world cup, which was a bonus. all in all, it was a pleasant summer evening. we most definitely will be going back.

quick note, we did not realize the patio allowed smoking. a couple of guys at the table behind us started to smoke, however they saw we had kids and moved to the other side of the patio. so for those interested, there was a family-friendly atmosphere.

check out their menu.
