- pbr mural -

it’s been awhile, but i spotted another pbr painting in the virginia highlands. although many of the other pbr murals have been painted over at this point, it was cool to find one i hadn’t seen before! be sure to check out the other murals we found around atlanta in june and august. – ryan

- here we go wet hop -

my favorite time of the year has finally arrived! we have cool weather, fall foliage, and, as of last week, we have the 2010 lineup of wet hop ales! in case you missed my post at the beginning of the summer, wet/fresh hop ales are by far my favorite beers and are only around for [...]

- loose cannon -

i recently tried loose cannon from heavy seas beer out of baltimore, maryland. it’s a tasty india pale ale that is super hoppy and 7.25%, a stellar combination! it’s also well-balanced, especially for such a high percentage, and features a great floral/citrusy hop flavor. if you’re into ipa’s, this will be a treat for you! [...]

- punkin ale -

it’s that time of year again! today is the first day of autumn and by now most breweries have released their fall lineup of seasonal beers, including pumpkin ales. i recently tried punkin ale from dogfish head craft brewery ales out of milton, delaware. it’s a great full-bodied brown ale with a mild pumpkin flavor. [...]

- two hearted ale -

over the weekend i tried two hearted ale by bell’s brewery out of kalamazoo, michigan. this beer was awesome! it’s a well balanced india pale ale that’s extremely hoppy and 7% abv. the hops were citrusy and floral yet not too bitter, it’s quite the refreshing beer. if you enjoy an IPA, give two hearted [...]

- another pbr painting -

we spotted another pbr mural on the side of the graveyard tavern in east atlanta village. just when we thought we had seen them all, another one pops up. be sure to check out the paintings in our june post, when we first started noticing the hand-painted ads around atlanta. – ryan & gub

- brew free or die ipa -

i recently tried the brew free or die ipa by 21st amendment brewery. this beer is great! it’s a golden ipa, so it’s extra hoppy but also light bodied. it’s the perfect summertime beer for hop lovers, especially if you enjoy cascade hops. and at 7% abv, you really can’t go wrong with this beer. [...]

- leon’s full service -

we recently went to leon’s full service in downtown decatur for dinner. it’s run by the same people who own the brick store pub, another long-time favorite decatur restaurant of ours. we actually tried to go to farm burger, but the line was so long we ended up at leon’s where we were seated immediately. [...]

- watermelon wheat -

21st amendment brewery recently started selling their hell or high watermelon wheat beer in georgia. willy and i tried this tasty beer at the 21st amendment brew pub in san francisco many years ago. we enjoyed the unique flavor so much, it actually inspired us to start bottle rocket brewing. over the years we brewed [...]

- fresh hop ales -

it’s been a little while since i’ve brewed beer but i am still a big fan, especially of hoppy IPAs. i love when fall approaches and breweries begin to release their fresh/wet hop ales. these tasty treats are brewed with wet hops that are delivered to the brewery the same day they are harvested. the [...]

- pbr paintings -

have you seen the pbr murals around atlanta? we just started noticing them and we like the old-fashioned feel of this new advertising campaign. so far, we’ve spotted them in east atlanta, little 5 points, and in the highlands on the back of manuel’s tavern. each painting is unique and features the artist’s name and [...]
