the little one is coming soon…. less than three weeks to go, so we washed all of our baby clothing and bedding this week! in doing so, we were also able to see what we have and what we still need for clothing. she will be a well-dressed little newborn!
we also hung our baby bath in the back of the shower. we are running out of space and needed a spot for it.

here are some sweet photos from the world beard & moustache championships! the 2011 competition goes down tomorrow in norway with 16 different categories, from “the delicate dali moustache to the anything-goes full beard freestyle”. sounds amazing!

– kirkwood spring fling 2011 –
the 9th annual kirkwood spring fling is going on this weekend in historic kirkwood. the festival also features a 5k race on saturday morning and an open air artist market with a ton of vendors, good eats, and live bands. admission to the festival is free from 10am-7pm on saturday at bessie branham park, with music lasting until 11pm. tickets for the kirkwood tour of homes can be purchased at the festival or at local kirkwood businesses.

– red mulberries –
we have a ton of red mulberries that are ripe and ready to be picked in our backyard! boy are they tasty! we’ve been known to crush up these sweet berries and make delicious vodka drinks, you should totally try it!
on a funny side note, we originally thought our mulberry tree was just a weed. it was growing out of an old pot left by the previous homeowner and didn’t appear to be much. it started sprouting limbs and leaves though, so we ended up planting it in the ground. a couple of years later it started growing these tasty berries, although they create quite the mess on our sidewalk.

– nursery transformation: week eleven –
so… we ended up putting the crib back under the window where we had it in the very beginning. it leaves more open space in the center of the room, which we think will be better.
we also got a new hanging lamp for the corner over the file cabinet, which brightens the room quite a bit without having to use the overhead light.
we have reclaimed gub’s art supply storage cart (really a shop tool cart) and will be using it as a changing table. we had to find a smaller changing table pad than the standard size, but it seems like it will work well and we can store diapers below and supplies in the drawer.
the new arrival will be sleeping in our room for a while in this cradle that’s been in gub’s family for over 40 years. her great aunt joanie originally bought it for her cousins and gub and her brother both used it when they were babies. gub’s mom refurbished it a bit and we’ve got it all set-up and waiting….

– nursery transformation: week ten –
we’ve been so busy being showered and transforming that we’re super late on our weekly nursery transformation post… sorry!
anyways, we are still playing around with room arrangement and haven’t settled for sure on having the crib in the middle of the room, but that’s where it is now. gub’s mom had this neato bedding made for us over at fingers & toes on etsy. we love it! she also got the baby these pink chucks… one of ryan’s favorite shower gifts so far!
we managed to make a few decisions as far as hanging artwork on the walls and we’re very close to selecting the rug. gub still has plans to make a mobile for over the crib. but we’re almost done… with four weeks until the due date!
