– sesame street record player –

check out clementine's sweet #vintage #sesamestreet #recordplayer !!!

we were able to find this amazing vintage sesame street record player for clementine! she likes when her papa plays records in the kitchen, especially charley brown, so we thought it would be fun for her to have her own player.

this one was under $10 after shipping, so even it gets broken it’s not the worst thing in the world. we also grabbed some sweet sesame street book & record singles from the early 70s. you can find sets of them on ebay for around $7-$8. they are perfect for kids to scratch up and learn how to use a record player. clementine loves taking her records in and out of their sleeves and also dancing to the 70s intro song.

– sat 28 jul –

i celebrated a nice birthday on saturday! i had a relaxing afternoon off followed by dinner at d.b.a., our new favorite bbq restaurant. besides having great ribs, their deep fried bacon is pretty ridiculous!

gub also got me these amazing vintage snow globes! they will look great in our collection!

– greetings from holden beach, nc –

we headed to holden beach, nc to celebrate gubs mothers birthday. there will be lots of beach posts to follow.

in the meantime, check out these great vintage post cards we found at the beach mart! looks like they’ve been on the shelf since the store opened 30+ years ago.

– vintage sign –

check out this old school taco bell sign we saw on our way to tybee island! their was an actual taco bell down the road, but it looks like they kept up this sign from an old store, which is awesome.

– throwback doritos –

i am a sucker for throwback products, especially when they feature vintage package design and original recipes. the latest one that got me was the retro doritos. i’d have to say the flavor was more along the lines of generic doritos, which is a little less overwhelming than current ones, but i definitely thought they were quite tasty. the sombrero and color choices were also a plus!

– vintage cereal design –

we are big fans of vintage designs and couldn’t resist buying a box of throwback cap’n crunch cereal. the font is really amazing, as is the flat, mid-century character design. i would say nostalgia got the better of us, however, because we totally forgot how much cap’n crunch scrapes the top of your mouth.

check out this site for a ton of vintage cereal box designs, it’s fun to flip through!

– vintage paint by numbers –

a few weeks ago i mentioned that gub and i really enjoy paint by numbers, especially vintage ones. i gathered some of the paintings from our personal collection to display.

two of the paintings are cutouts in the shape of the usa, made by stephen & shauna from something’s hiding in here. they were on display in the hand.craft.it festival gub and i curated with our friend kristen. the exhibit featured 16 of these paintings in a grid, which looked really awesome. we ended up buying a couple of the paintings when the exhibit ended! be sure to check out their etsy store for great goodies!
